Symarctic Symabook Alpha Facebook for S60v5

This is the alpha-edition of Symartic Symabook which will expire at the end of October, 2009 at the latest.

Hi folks, it starts now! Grab your copy of Symabook Alpha and give it a test drive on your S60 5th edition mobile phone. We have tested it to run on Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and N97. Our pre-alpha testers have also reported Symabook to work on Samsung i8910HD (Thanks Tariq!).

The emphasis of development for this release was to concentrate on user interface. Therefore, this surely lacks some of the essential Facebook features that you are hoping for. But don’t worry, we will continue the development. Please give us your feedback. Drop your comments to this post or to the symabook @ symarctic.com.

Quick instructions for the Symabook Alpha

Login

After starting the Symabook application, login to your Facebook account when a browser is launched. Authorize Symabook. After succesfull login and authorization, browser can display an error page guiding you to close the browser and return to the Symabook application. Close the browser and tap the green continue button on Symabook. If extended permissions are asked in a browser window by Facebook, please provide the permissions. Again, after permissions are given successfully, close the browser and return to the Symabook application. Tap the green continue arrow and start using the application. Following starts of Symabook are smoother because of stored session and given permissions.

Usage

Drag lists up and down to scroll the view. Tap item to select it. Drag right to access navigation and left to view commands. Commands are sensitive to selected items. Commands can also be accessed from popup menu. Make a long tap to item to view its popup menu.

Photos can be zoomed by circular gesture. Drag a circular path to clockwise direction over a photo to zoom in. Counter clockwise circular gesture zooms out. Drag in any direction to pan zoomed images.

Exiting the application is done by selecting the Exit option from the navigation or by pressing red end call key.

Currently easiest way to log in to Symabook with different Facebook account is to uninstall the application and clear the privacy data from the browser of the phone. Then install the Symabook again and log in with different Facebook account.

This alpha release of Symabook will expire at the end of October, 2009 at the latest.
